I Love Cheezy Music

August 2007

Hey Guys!

Just got back from Spirit West Coast Monterey, CA (SWC) where we played with the band Chasing Truth on the Jr. High Hyperspace stage.  We had a great turnout.  We want to thank everyone for coming out to see us.   Thanks especially to Mr. T, Roy Pina, Kevin Looker, Ezra Web Radio and our parents (Tom & Sheri), for your support - and most important we thank GOD, for the amazing opportunities to serve HIM!

SWC is a huge three-day Christian music festival where approximately 25,000 people gather to hear their favorite (or not so favorite) bands play. Some people worship, some head bang, and some enjoy the  "fair like" atmosphere.  We felt humbled and honored to play at SWC.   We were scheduled to play on Saturday evening.  So on the other two days when ever we met someone we invited them to come out to see our concert… One of these times, Beth approached a girl, who was about 15 yrs. old and said,

"Hey come see us play tomorrow night,"

"What kind of music do you play?" the girl asked,

"Christian Rock," Beth replied.

"Oh, I don't listen to Christian music." The girl responded.

This seemed odd to us, especially since we thought the Festival was a Christian event! OK  -  so we are a little slow about the whole genre thing  - We did not realize it then, but at this event, many of the bands that played there do not like to identify themselves as a "Christian band"  From their own mouths, they say they do not even want to be affiliated with Christian music; but ironically, they are playing at a Christian festival and having their music played on Christian radio stations and making money from it. These bands say that they go mainstream so that they can reach more people, they say they do not want to be narrow minded like Christian bands or "cheesy" like Christian music, yet if you really look at the lyrics of some of these bands, they are written so obscure that whoever is listening can take the lyrics however, they want.   We are not downing artists who are Christian and play mainstream music and we are not against Christian bands and musicians who play or listen to secular music.  There is a lot of fantastic music out there…  We just wonder about the bands who play both sides of the coin, secular and Christian, claiming to be Christian and then continue to trash the phrase “Christian music” their very bread and butter.   Confusing?  Perhaps, however, how much does one sell out to self-promotion?   Many bands write great lyrics, but what's up with double meanings so that Christians will think that it is acceptable, and so will non-Christians - all for what?  The integrity of their music?   We have been told Christian music must become all-encompassing but for whose sake?  It reminds us of the following scripture in Rev. 3:16 "So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth."

Over the past few weeks we have been bombarded by fellow Christians  old and young a like who have adopted the “band cross-over philosophy”  (as of now the current "Christian fad" goes something like this)  "I do not listen to Christian music,  nor  do I  like Christian music it’s too cheesy." Then these same people go to church to worship GOD and criticize the worship music as being "to Christian" or complain, that a worship leader is "to Christian."   What about singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, to GOD?   Maybe what we are talking about is semantics?  Have we in the church become so musically prideful we cannot tolerate our own?  We understand a person's right not to like certain types of music, the sound, instruments, tone, lyrics, etc. we understand about analyzing and intellectualizing music.  We understand the importance of music theory classes and never deviating from the written note. However, what about the need to serve and worship our Creator - through simplicity - music and singing is just one way to do this… We feel the above music viewpoint is dangerous and is permeating many churches today - Christian bands must take some of the responsibility for this attitude.

To say, "I don’t like Christian music" at church or at a giant Christian concert is an oxymoron. Paul quotes Isaiah in Romans when he says,  "See I lay in Zion a stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall, and the one who trusts in Him will never be put to shame."   If Christian musicians are afraid to use the name of Jesus Christ and His gospel, they have tripped up. If someone is offended by the word of God, GOOD!  Jesus did not come to make people happy; He came to make them holy. Christian music should praise Jesus Christ and exalt Him and not worry about pleasing people. Christian bands who worry about being  "too Christian" need to read 1 Timothy 6  they have, " a corrupt mind that think godliness is a means to financial gain."  We struggle with the attitudes of professed believer musicians who do not have enough conviction or enough love for our Lord  to proclaim His name.

In the last 5-6 months, (after we prayed and fasted as a family) things started to look very different to us as a band, than they did 2 years ago when we seriously committed to this ministry.   We have always wanted to be a Christian witness to all people, we wanted people to know who we were, and know our songs. We wanted to play on all the big stages at all the big festivals.  We wanted the praise of man, we wanted to be good musically and lyrically - However, in the last 5 months, our attitudes and viewpoints have changed, so much so that it makes us want no part of what we wanted before. At our Worship Revivals, we have seen kids our age cry, falling to the ground, unashamed,   adoring our loving God. We have seen people and relationships healed, and older people who would never do more than sing in church, jump and dance with joy out of love for Jesus - We have seen the Spirit move… we have experienced it!

As of now, we have clear direction of what God wants from us. Which is simply to continue to sing about HIM and speak boldly about Jesus wherever HE takes us.  We realize that this is going to make us un-popular and people are going to think we are lame for writing songs directly about Jesus and why we love HIM, but that is ok. People can think we are dumb, un-hip, narrow minded, because it is true, we are. We are not here to please people…

The time is coming, and it is coming fast where we all will have to make a definite stand for what we believe in.  If you are a Christian, be bold and intentional in your faith, love the LORD and love others.

So stay strong guys, and be prepared for God's power to be seen. It is coming; we believe it with all of our hearts. This summer we have experienced so much - and we are so thankful and humbled by it all.   We see God gripping hearts - Something immeasurable is already happening…  A worship revolution is coming. People all over the world are going to worship God like they never have before, and people are going to be saved. They will see Jesus and they will believe. We are excited…

Thanks for reading this long letter, please feel free to respond.
We love you guys,

Love B.C-

Dandy times at Camp, camp, camp!

Hi Y'all! Well, it is now April! SO much has happened since

, the discovery of Uranus, Albert Einstein's B-day, the first
day of Spring, Houdini's B-day, and Baseball season! Well, that's what
happened with them, now for the news from Blameless Child!

First of all, we had the privilege of being the worship leaders at
the Youth for Christ Jr. High Winter Camp. It was awesome! We got to
talk with the kids about God, make new friends, and have snow ball
fights! It was so much fun! We can't wait until next year! Thank you Jon
Walker (Jr. High Youth Pastor) and the rest of the Jr. High department at
Neighborhood Church in Redding!

Second: We had the chance to meet up with some of our good friends

Blameless Child

   April 2007
FROM BC BLOG:

Today our Dad, officiated at a memorial service ( He's an Ordained Berean Pastor) for a lady who used to attend our former church. During the service, Beth and I sang three songs, "I'll Fly Away", I've Got A Mansion" and an original entitled "The Tune." Then we listened as our Dad read from the Bible, prayed, and tried to comfort the 5 people who were in attendance (8 counting dad, Beth, and myself.)

It was really a very sad thing to experience . When I knew this lady, I did not realize the emotional pain she had suffered, but I came to find that this poor woman lived a really hard life. I still know very little about her childhood, but, I know she had a very dysfunctional family, that was rampant with drugs and abuse. Two of her children died from drug over doses, and her ex-husband was serving an extended jail sentence.

She was frail, and sickly, and she used to come to church with her oxygen tank, but she was very kind and she had a really good sense of humor. She died of an accidental prescription drug overdose; However, despite her sufferings, she was a Christian, and she really did have a deep love for the Lord Jesus.
At this service today, just witnessing the memories these five people had for this woman, really gave me a deeper understanding of how important relationships are. It was sad to see so few people at the service. I mean, funerals are in part supposed to be a place where people come and remember you, and when hardly anyone comes, that shows the quality of the relationships that existed, or didn't exist. The whole thing was almost surreal, because actually this sort of thing happens all the time to people who live, and die, and never put priority on loving and forgiving the people in their lives.
I guess it's easy while you're young to have all kinds of plans, and things you hope to accomplish; but really when it all comes down to it, loving people and loving God is the most important thing in life to accomplish. And of course loving is sometimes really hard, and forgiving is painful, but Jesus Christ did it for, us, and he went through the worst things ever. His life was the definition of love. Hopefully our lives will reflect that definition too.

1 Corinthians 13:13
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love."

WHAT HAPPENED TO MARCH???? 2007

February 2007

Intro-
Primarily, thank you so much for your continued support, and for staying in touch with us. We absolutely love hearing from you guys. We seriously have the coolest friends in the world. We are so blessed by you guys. Thank you:)

February

So February is now in our midst. Overall, the second month of the year isn't so bad. In fact, it is a good month. The thing that is so great about February though, is the fact that it holds one of the greatest holidays on the calendar...
GROUNDHOGS DAY!!!!!!! Oh, I'm sorry were you expecting Valentines Day? Sorry to burst some bubbles, but Valentines Day is a little overrated. Overall, it's just a day of expressing deep, heartfelt feelings, and eating candy, all wrapped up in a bunch of hearts, flowers, and fluff. It's much the same as Halloween; A day of some big retail money makin.
However, Ground Hogs day, is a very special time that represents such a milestone in the technology of our great society. It shows how far humanity has progressed since we were cave dwellers. Now instead of eating groundhogs, we rely on them to predict the weather! Brilliant. It sure is a good thing that there's a holiday to celebrate that achievement. So, the heck with love and sentiment, watching rodents emerge from holes in the ground, now that's something to celebrate. Seriously though, February is great because so much other cool stuff happens in February.
There's Create a Vacume Day,Charles Dickens Day, The day ex-planet Pluto was discovered, the birth of a bunch of presidents, International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day, and another favorite, National Polar Bear Day.
So Happy February to everyone, and Happy Day of birth to everyone born in this glorious month!

New CD: The People's Psalm

We just got finished recording a new CD, entitled " The People's Psalm"
For us, it was a bit of an experiment. It has some rock, some jazz/soul and a little pop with a dash of harmonica, a bit of yodeling, and an attempt at some screaming. To say the least, it was fun to make. We hope you guys like it, and that it blesses you. Look for it around late February 2007!
We just want to say a huge THANKS!!! to everyone who was apart of it.
The Biggest thanks to all of our parents, we love you:) and everyone in the Schack Family, and the Bashor Family. Without your support, we would be lost. Thanks so much to Kevin and Gian. You guys are the best. Thanks also to Sara and My Second Chance for your help and support. We love all of you. You are heaven sent blessings.

Also, for those of you in the Redding-ish area, come and join us for a sweet time

Conclusion

We absolutely love doing what we do. It's always such an adventure to go to all the places that God maps out for us, and meet and talk to new people. It's also fun to jump around, yell, sing to Jesus, dance, and go crazy...but it's also easy to get comfortable, and take a lot for granted; becoming almost robotic in the process, with what we say and do. I think lately God has been hitting us on the head with the challenge to look at our own hearts and find out what it means to really live out the faith we claim to have. And for our actions to reflect what it is we say.
Personally, I have noticed within myself, that my faith is quite small. I think I understand so much about life, and I'm usually so sure of myself; But when I'm brought out into the open into a place that I'm unfamiliar or uncomfortable with, kinda like the groundhog coming out of his hole, I see how short my faith is. When I'm safe and secure it's easy to know God has everything under control, but when things get a little sticky, it's hard to find that peace. Therefore, this leaves me thinking these thoughts; If my faith and trust in God varies by circumstance, is that real faith and trust at all? And when I worship God with songs, is my life reflecting what the words are saying? I say I love Jesus, but do I love people? I judge others, but how often do I want to look at myself? I want to do all these great things for God, and important things, and make my life have meaning, and in the process of trying to do these things, I walk farther and farther away from what it is God says is great; which is love. Not the feeling, but the action of loving like Jesus did; and on our own that's an impossible thing to do.
But we can't thank Jesus enough for his perfectness, and God's grace, and the strenghth he gives us to be the people he wants us to be. Totally imperfect guys and girls, madly in love with Him. Happy February:)

December 2006/ Jan 2007!

Hey there! Happy New Year 2007! We hope that all of your days are  filled with everything wonderful.

Thank you so much for your continued support and prayers. We love hearing from you guys, and learning what God is doing in your life is always a blessing. Thank you so much:) Can you believe that 2007 is almost here! My goodness, this year went by so fast. Soon we'll all be really old!

Well, we've been keeping busy doing all the things we love to do. God has graciously given us many different opportunities to serve HIM. It's amazing just to see all the different ministries that God has put in place to reach out to the people HE loves.

On the 23rd of December, we went down to Willow's CA to the Glenn County Juvenile Hall to put on a Christmas service.  We had some time before we played, so we got to hang out with the kids and play some board games with them, it was really cool. There were only nine kids there this time, which is good, considering there could have been more, which is never good; but it's lame for even one to spend Christmas there. So that was sad to see. But what was totally mind blowing was the fact that
one kid, (who was also there last time) was 9 years old. He is so young, it's so hard to believe that a nine year old could be guilty of any crime and end up in Juvenile Hall.  Our hearts went out to him? and to all the kids that were there.  So please keep these guys in your prayers that they will know Jesus as their LORD and Savior.  We believe the Holy Spirit will reach them, and that God is going to use their lives in amazing ways for HIS glory and purpose. Also, we  want to say thanks to
Pastors' Deborah and Steve Powell who are both a vital part of the Juvenile Hall ministry. Thank you  for your amazing hearts, and the love you have for others. You have inspired us, and your kindness has been encouraging.

Recently Beth and I (and our parents) had the privilege of being interviewed by  Pastor Jim Wilson who hosts a TV program called Pray Northstate out of Chico, Ca.  The whole way down to Chico to do the interview we were kind of skeptical, and kept asking ourselves, " Why are we doing this?"  and " Why are we here?"   We met Jim about three or four months ago at Redding's Revolutionary Response/Prayer and Worship at Simpson University in Redding, CA. To make a long story short, we end up in Chico, and along with our parents, we realized it was a great opportunity to share our hearts, and what God has done in our lives.  After talking with Jim for a while, we saw what an awesome ministry he has. He has a wonderful heart for the Lord, and a great passion for reaching people for Christ.

Besides playing at church for youth worship, we are looking forward to traveling down to Salinas, CA and playing at a youth event called We Rock For You on Jan 12, 2007 alongside a great band "Chasing Truth" If you live in the area please come and hang out with us. Check our website www.blamelesschild.com or our Purevolume site www.purevolume.com/blamelesschild for details.

Our ministry continues to keep us humble and excited at the same time.  It is overwhelming at times when kids come up and ask us how they can become a Blameless Child in Christ. It's so worth it to see people who think they haven't any hope, smile and laugh, and know it's going to be ok, because of what Christ's love has done.  Thanks again for your prayers and encouragement!

May God bless you abundantly.

B.C November Newsletter Part I

Intro

Hey Guys! Hope all is well for you and your families!

As you probably know, a sweet guitar player named Blake Schack, has
been added to the B.C band. Since he appeared, he has been a tremendous blessing.
Blake is a responsible, talented, God loving, laugh your face off,
young man and we feel blessed that he is a part of Blameless Child.

The Latest

Cool stuff has been happening lately...People
have been praying, (thank you) and God has opened many doors for us.
We are really excited and humbled to be able to play at public schools, juvenile halls, and on
street corners of the city of Redding. Proclaiming God's love through
Jesus! We had the opportunity to play at two public schools in one day.
First we played during lunch break at Shasta High School (where Blake
goes to school) the Christian Club joined us, along with others from
the school (SHS has a student body of over 1800 students). It was
really fun and awesome to see kids worshiping God during lunchtime at a public
High School. We had them dancing, singing and jumping with us. It was
an unforgettable afternoon, what joy to see God working in the hearts
of fellow students.

Then later on that night, we played at "Java Night/ Pie Fest" at Shasta
Secondary Home School where Beth, Sam and I attend. The event in
itself is a blessing, because Beth, a teacher named Joan, and I started
this event last year in hopes of it being a place for other students to
showcase whatever talent they may have and to show God's love in spoken
and unspoken words. We have different outreaches at the school every
couple of months, and this was the first one of the year. SSHS is such
a blessing, with wonderful teachers, staff, students, and supportive
parents. We Love You!!

It's been truly amazing just to see the great need of people within our
own city and state; there is such a mission field right in front of our own
eyes..

For about two months, the three of us (Liz, Beth, and Sam) got to help
teach an "electric instrument" elective at a local elementary school
here in our hometown. It was a really cool thing...we had about ten
students from grades 5-8. We taught them how amps work, what guitar
effects do, drum beats, and even taught them a "Showbread" intro line.... they
all did really well. All of the kids were so cool and it was amazing
to see how well they listened and really wanted to learn. It was a a great
opportunity to show our witness to these kids in a
public school, to show we care, and spread God's love.
Thanks to Mr. Potter for inviting us and to North Woods Discovery School.

Up and Coming

The last few months we have been working on improving the quality of
our sound. We feel it is important to make our songs and lyrics
accessible to all different groups of people. We want our music to
worship GOD, deliver a message, be heart felt, and relevant. Hopefully a
new CD will be out by late January or early February 2007.

For those of you near Salinas Ca in early January, (Jan 12th) watch for
an exciting area youth outreach event. We'll be seeing you there, along
with some other truly amazing bands...

In January and early February, we've got a couple of radio interviews with an
awesome guy named Jim Wilson of Pray North state.... will let you know
more details as them become available.

Congrats

Congratulations on the marriage of Kevin Looker (Good Shepherd Studios)
and Sara; May God bless your new lives together! You guys are the
greatest!

Conclusion

At home, we (Liz, Beth and Sam) with our mom, have a morning daily
devotional and prayer time. We have been reading about the life of
Watchman Nee, a Chinese Christian in the 1920s who died in prison in
1972. Much has been written about Watchman Nee and there is controversy about
his beliefs and doctrine - however, we are not here to debate theology.
From our own perspective Watchman Nee was a man with a huge heart for
The Lord. He prayed to be broken so he could be more like Christ and
die of self; his life has been an inspiration to us.

We look at our music as a ministry; please pray for us that we stay
united as one in the LORD and that we are able to encourage others.
Our hearts desire comes from Philippians 2:1-4 "If you have any
encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his
love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then
make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being
one in spirit and purpose. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit,
but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each
of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the
interests of others." This is our prayer.

Until next time, may our Father bless and
keep you safe.

LOVE ALWAYS!

AUGUST PART II

END OF AUGUST

Aloha! Buenos Dias, Bon Dia, Amiga’s, and Amigos!
Hello! Good day, my friends! Hope all is swell for you!
August has been an awe-inspiring month with exciting changes, and amazing opportunities for all of us!

Siskiyou County, CA

There is a well-worn campfire song my mom used to sing when she was a kid - “Make new friends, but keep the old, one is silver and the other’s gold.” Well as trite as this might be it best describes our month of August. We went up to Fort Jones Community Church in Fort Jones, CA and lead worship for their Monday night service, (thanks Brett for inviting us and Brandon our Youth Pastor for your great support) what a wonderful surprise (you should have seen our mouths drop open) when we saw Jamie from Neighborhood Church standing in the crowd! (old young friend - Jamie was one of our worship leaders for our High School Focal Point group in Redding, CA). We had no idea that Jamie’s uncle is the Pastor of the church and she was visiting that week! It was really sweet… met some great (new friends) and enjoyed playing on their brand new awesome sound system! A few weeks later we were invited to play in Yreka at a youth rally called Kaleo. Both events in Fort Jones and Yreka were way cool, and at both we met such wonderful, sweet, and generous people who made us feel so welcome. Another cool thing was that six years ago, we used to live in Siskiyou County, where our Dad planted and pastored a church, (yes – we are PK’s – oh that means Pastor kids) Sam and Beth were born in Yreka, so at first it was a strange feeling going back, not knowing exactly what to expect. However, God pleasantly surprised us as HE always does – HIS word is so true… Both events turned out to be some of the loveliest displays of Jesus’ love in the lives of people. We even met up with some kids we went to elementary school with back in the day. That was a blessing in itself to see them again, and to see how God has worked in their lives – what joy and an encouragement to us! Thanks Siskiyou County for your love and support! You guys are awesome!
New Guitar Player
Blameless Child is no longer a threesome, we are now a quad. We added a newbie who is an awesome friend, has a deep love for The Lord, and plays a mad guitar. He is completely cool in so many ways, and we are so fortunate and blessed to have him with us. He adds a wonderful element to the band, so here he is, the one and only, Blake Schack. Please give him a warm welcome on our guest book at blamelesschild.com

Crewsell

A few days before J-Fest we had a surprise event take place – the awesome band Creswell was in Redding for a few days. With little notice we got a concert set-up at Neighborhood Church – we had a blast – thanks to everyone for coming out – you guys are great! Our thanks to Jeff for doing our sound, and learning the Mackie, you did a fantastic job! Thanks also to Neighborhood Church you guys are so amazing and encouraging!!!
(more about you later)

Joshua Fest 2006

On Friday September 1, 2006 we headed to Quincy Ca for J-Fest 2006. We stayed at Ada’s Place it was so peaceful and serene, with a calming water feature right outside our front door. This is our mom’s form of camping, plus I think it was a good excuse for her to take some R&R. What an extreme contrast between J-Fest and Ada’s Place – I know there must be a lesson in this for us – but we were too busy to figure it out! We found out that last year, the band “Ever Stays Red” stayed in the exact same cabin, that was pretty cool. That evening we took off and went for pizza, and then after wards we went to the local grocery store Safeway to get some more food (we are always hungry). In Quincy, Safeway is probably the biggest store there, and has a large parking lot. When we got there, band vans and buses were parked outside… it was the happening place to be. We were surprised to see how many people we knew in that store!
The next day we checked in at the festival and hung out with our friends from Redding, Fort Jones, and Yreka. We played on the “Almost Acoustic” stage sponsored by The Good Shepherd Studio. We had a grand time with everyone – you guys rocked! It was a lot of fun… jumping jacks and star bursts candy seem to go well together! We just want to say thanks to everyone who came out and had fun with us. It was a blast hanging out with old friends and making new ones. Joshua Fest was way cool; it is much more laid back than Spirit West Coast, less people, easier to get around, and much less stress… a great way to worship our LORD together! Thanks to Kevin Looker JCMUZK and Good Shepherd Studios for the invite.
CD
New CD coming sometime in the end of 2006, beginning of 2007…In the process of getting it all together, but it will be worth waiting for…we promise
Will let you know details as they come together.
Prayer
Remember that if you have anything that you would like us to pray for, please let us know, we would love to do so… Could you pray for us too? Well actually, it is for some of our friends who are going through some rough times.
-Please pray for our friend Daniel and his family from The Fold; His mom has pancreatic cancer stage IV, and he’s having a struggle, …please pray for his mom to be healed, and that she would just be at total peace, pray for Daniel that he would be ok, and that God would give him strength.
-Also, please pray for the band Creswell, Will, Dustin, and Adam. Pray that God would bless them, give them guidance, and help them get to where they need to go. Pray that God would use their band is an awesome way, and bring people to him through them.
Pray for our friend Nate Kracker, (Innate) he’s been really sick and needs healing. Pray that he gets well, and that he would be encouraged.

THANK YOU

Thanks again so much for your support, it is beyond words. We want to thank all of you for how much you care, it means so much to us…we love hanging out with you guys. We want to give a special “Thank You” to Tom and Cameron Adams for all your help at Joshua Fest you guys are wonderful!
In addition, we want to give a big “thank you” to our church, Neighborhood Church of Redding, CA – to some of the best people in the world. You have been so supportive, encouraging, and loving towards us. We absolutely love you! And thank you for your kindness!

Conclusion

This last month, we met up with some old friends and had the privilege of meeting many new friends ... It's so wonderful and encouraging to talk with different people and hear about their lives and see how God is working. We feel so humbled to be able to do what we do.... we hope and pray to continue with this awesome ministry for a long time.

August 2006!

Hello!

Greetings and Love to you from us, Liz, Beth and Sam; Blameless Child.
Hope all is well with you, and your family and friends...

The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year -  August is finally here, and you know what that means? Yep you got it, SCHOOL.  The time of year where your job is to make the government look good with your test scores; and learn all you can so you can make something of your self, and lead a happy, productive life as an adult.  However, The Good Lord has blessed us all differently, so if these things are quite impossible for you, no worries, just join a band! (Ok just kidding!)

SWC 2006

As you may have noticed, we have been talking for a long time about the Spirit West Coast, ACMS competition. For 7 months, we've been so excited and pumped up about it. We had been practicing and preparing like crazy. So as the final weeks before SWC came, stress and nervousness levels were at an all-time high. Honestly, I was scared big time. I think we all were...¦. Oh we of little faith.
But to make our already tense days worse, I came down with bronchitis four days before the competition. I could not sing one note without coughing.  I had been sick the week before with a virus, so it was like a never-ending story of germs. But ironically, no one else got sick. My mom reminds me that about three weeks before SWC, we were sitting at the dinner table, and I stupidly said,  Wouldn't it be funny if I got sick right before the competition? Then as my pride got in the way I said, "just kidding don't worry guys, NO way will I get sick I have Air Bourne!" Ha! God sure does have a way of making me eat my words; and in no way, shape, or form was it funny. My family began to pray, and Beth sent out an SOS for others to pray for me!

So as GOD's Word says to persevere, come Wednesday Morning, August 2nd at approximately 7:00 am, we packed the band trailer, loaded the van with 8 of us, granny included, stopped at the walk-in clinic, and found out I had acute bronchities. The doc was really cool and said he thought I should still try and compete at SWC - so I  got pumped full of nasty drugs for my germs, and finally left our beautiful hometown of Redding Ca at around 11 am.  We stopped in Modesto Ca and let off granny. (She's on vacation from us, and will be back in a month. )   We finally pulled into Monterey at around 8 pm.

I had forgotten how beautiful the place was. I think the last time we were in Monterey was nine years ago as part of a "Family" road trip. I'm sure it was  such a wonderful time for our parents, driving across half the continental United States with four screaming kids ages 1-8 in the back, for two weeks straight.  It was our bonding time, and bond we did. We bonded so well that we are now blessed with separation anxiety, so any time our parents stay out past 11:00 pm without us, they hear from us big time!

Monterey was really cool. We did some sweet stuff before the big "Gig" on Friday. We went to Santa Cruz, played on the beach, and had a BBQ with our wonderful support team of Aunt Melanie, Uncle Fred, (who came all the way from Columbia, CA in their RV) and cuz Danny and his friend Sara from Santa Cruz. (Great BBQ Aunt Mel! It was fun). We also went to Cannery Row In Monterey. This was cool for me because I really loved reading the book, "Cannery Row" by John Steinbeck.

Meanwhile back to the bronchitis, I hadn't peeped a note for almost a week.  So on Thursday afternoon, (day after I saw the doc) and a day before the competition. We thought we should practice at least once, so our Dad who comes up with great ideas, and is very bold - found a little Baptist Church who agreed to allow us to play. (this was after dad called some of the larger churches in the area -  who said that they were to busy for us to be there... Reminds me of the book In His Steps)  any way  The Pastor kindly allowed us to practice in the church rec room. He was a true blessing from God. He was new to the church, and this was his second Sunday preaching - he really wanted to reach the kids of the community - so as we played in the rec hall, he opened the door wide so the whole neighborhood could hear us... his church is situated in a bad part of town and people were peeking in and walking by to see what was going on... it was a multi-cultural community and it was really cool.  The pastor encouraged us, and we encouraged him, we prayed together and found out that we all had a lot in common... he has such a heart for the Lord's work.  So please remember to pray for Pastor Joe in the town of Marina.  We practiced for about an hour, and thankfully, I could get some notes out, we praised GOD and on our way we went... this was a highlight of our trip and to think if I had not gotten sick we would have never meet Pastor Joe!!!

Friday finally came, and we headed to Laguna Seca Race Way, where Spirit West Coast was being held. It was amazing to see so many people gathered in one place in the middle of nowhere. But what was even more amazing was seeing the many  bands that were competing in this event. It made you stand back and think, " Good Lord, what have I gotten into...."

So we played for our 18 minutes that we were given. Beth and Sam did great like always. My voice messed up, and my guitar was not as good as it should have been. At the end of it, I was a mass of sad, mad, exhausted tears.  Sad because we didn't get the chance to say our message in full which was most important to me (we were told not to by the judges - because of time constraints).   Mad because I thought I messed the whole thing up; and tired from the tension of the past week and jumping around on stage. Our Mom, Dad, older sister Dawn, Aunt Mel, and Uncle Fred are so awesome though. They were proud, and their encouragement was a blessing; But to me - it still felt like the whole thing was pointless. We didn't win the competition, much less even make it to the finals. Everything seemed like a worthless waste of time and energy to me.  I felt like I had failed God, and everyone who had invested so much into this, so I concluded that Spirit West Coast was a huge pointless mistake.

However, GOD showed me that I was the one who was big time mistaken!!!   After the competition more than one person came up to my mom and told her they felt the Holy Spirit moving in their hearts while they were listening to our music!  Can you believe it!  GOD worked through our songs, mistakes and all and the songs really touched others...  I did not even have to give my message!  It was AWESOME!!! And to top it all off,  and to our absolute amazement, we got invited to play back the next night on the Jr. High main stage called "Hyperspace"  (Thanks Kevin, @ Good Shepherd Studios!) We felt very honored!  We played for over 30 minutes to a group of awesome kids, and we had free reign and got to say the message we had planned to say at the very beginning of the competition; and another thing that was cool, was at the exact same time we were singing on the Jr. High stage, David Crowder was singing on the K-Love main stage right next door.  I am a huge David Crowder fan, so I kinda wanted to see him in concert, but I wasn't about to complain because of the fact that GOD  gave us an amazing opportunity. He allowed us play on a stage at Spirit West Coast; and even better, a stage just for Jr. Highers. He let us tell these kids who were listening about Christ's love, and share our hearts with them.  (Plus I got a David Crowder Frisbee), so I was happy.  An alter call message was given by another performer and many of the kids asked Jesus into their hearts!!!  Then to top it all off, we got to see the Newsboys in concert. They were by far the best at Spirit West Coast, my gosh, what a show! and what a wonderful way to worship our LORD GOD!

Conclusion

So for all of us, Spirit West Coast 2006 was not what we expected. Nothing went the way we thought it would; But once again God proves that even when we feel like failures, and think something is worthless,  God sees the bigger picture. His ways are not our ways, but that is such a good thing.

And thinking back, we had the support of so many wonderful people. Through prayer, encouragement, and just plain love.  We thank God for you guys. We thank GOD for each of your prayers! We are so blessed by you!   So once again I was wrong, the whole experience wasn't pointless. Jesus can work through anything. I learned that sometimes it's best for you just to be quiet, so God can speak.  I learned you don't always have to use the right words to communicate what you think you are  supposed to say - cause it is GOD who does the true communicating through HIS Holy Spiirt!!!

Thank you so much for you prayers, support and mostly for your love :)
May you always be blessed-

Love from B.C

SOS - July 2006

Hey - Beth here - we need your help -  please pray for Liz - she has some kind of virus - she is sick in bed - with a high fever - and is not feeling very well! - we only have six days before we leave for Spirt West Coast!!!....  I know all things are in GOD's hands -  Thanks... Love, Beth

Is It Still JULY?

This last Saturday, we woke up early, packed up the trailer, had our band fuel.. _mocha frappacino's, and drove down I-5, and went to the Willows Juvenile Hall for the second time. We saw a few of the same kids as last time, which was both good and bad. Good because we love seeing familiar faces and hanging out with them. But bad because it's never good to see the same kids in a juvenile hall that you saw two months ago...especially when you hear that they got out, but quickly returned.  So Bittersweet ... please pray for them... we really have a burden for them... we also dedicated our new song to them "The People's Psalm" which we plan to play at
Spirit West Coast...

Oh and by the Way....

DON'T FORGET

WINDY JULY 2006

Hey, the caption says windy in July because I have got a lot to say this month...
We recently finished playing at a Jr. High summer camp. It was a total blast!
We got to hang out with some super cool kids, they
were most definitely the best crowd we've ever had. Everytime we played
an upbeat song,( Especially "Undignified") they all went crazy. All of
the kids were really nice, and super fun to hang out with. At the end
of camp, almost all of the kids either gave their lives to Christ
for the first time, or re-dedicated their lives. It was an amazing
time, and we want to say thanks to everyone from local Redding Churches;
Neighborhood, Risen King, and Redding Christian Fellowship, who invited
us and made it possible for us to come and play. We were greatly
blessed!

OK - part II of July

Only five months left until Christmas!!! On Sunday July 2, 2006 we
celebrated the birthday of our country, so Happy Fourth of July! Hope
everyone had an amazing day! Hope it was safe and fun!

We played at an event called Summer Fest! it was super
fun.... biggest crowd yet! We got to hang out with good friends, eat super
food, and listen to some amazingly talented bands and singers. The
Grace Girls, Constancy, A blues jam band with Rick Kirkpatrick,
they were all spectacular! Keep up the great work guys!

We just want to say thanks to Rich Kirkpatrick, and Neighborhood Church
for inviting us to play, and a special Thank You sincerely to everyone
who came, jumped, and sang with us! You are truly the best!!!
Without the support of you guys, our parents, family, and everyone else who has
given so much to this ministry, we would be poor, lost, bum, musicians,
who don't play very well, singing songs in a Wal-mart parking lot....
without any hope for tomorrow...
Well, maybe I'm exaggerating...but really, we thank God for blessing us
with the support of so many amazing people, who continually put up with
our noise, and give so generously. For the encouragement to keep
going... for the prayer, and for the wise instruction and constructive
criticism to be better. Thank You.

Mostly though, we want to thank our Father In Heaven...for his amazing
love, and for his perfect plan. His ways are better than ours.

Its been almost six months since we started doing this "band"
thing seriously; and in this short time, a lot has happened...God has
given us some amazing opportunities...and He has opened our eyes to
things we didn't see before...and its also gotten harder than before...more
things to deal with, and to do.... things that require you to have
maturity and responsibility I guess.... which is sometimes difficult....
ha-ha!
But We don't know where God is going with this, or what His plans are,
but we've seen Him change hearts, and we know that He will continue to
do so...

So I hope this will be an encouragement to you.... just to trust that
God has it handled...his plans for our lives are the best we could ever
hope for.... because even if we don't see where we're going, and can't
understand where we are...God knows, and he'll never let us not have a
reason to trust Him.

If we can pray for you for anything.... please let us know because we
would love to do so:)

And ok...I promise that this is the last newsletter for a while.... at
least until next week....

Love from B.C

JUNE 2006 RECORD BREAKING HEAT!

JUNE is a great month... started off cold and rainy and is ending up breaking heat records 114 degrees in Redding, CA! Our car temp said 122 degrees as we traveled!

For the past three weeks we’ve had the pleasure of leading worship for our High School youth group,  (which we love to do) and preparing for our unofficial

"BC 11 Day Tour"

We are calling it this because on Thursday night we kicked off our 11 days straight of playing time. So it's our little inside "tour" joke. "haha!"

But as I mentioned, we started off last Thursday night playing @ Matthew's Cafe in Chico. A BIG thank you to Jim and everyone at Matthew's who invited us, and everyone who came out to jump with us!   It was a really fun night....we did three 45 minute sets...so we were pouring sweat at the end, and slept well on the way back to Redding. It was a blessing to play there! We found out towards the end of the night, that we three have a lot in common with many of the kids who came to the concert.  Quite a few like us, were adopted, and have gone through some of the same heart aches that we have. So it was an opportunity to tell these kids about our experiences and what God has done for us and what He can do for them. For me personally, this wasn't an easy thing.  However, God is showing me that getting up in a mic and spilling it all out, is not about me... this night wasn't about us, or our lives, or even our music. It was way more than that. It was a picture of how Jesus makes the difference and gives hope to those who have none - we give HIM the glory!

This next week we have an amazing opportunity! We get to lead morning and evening worship at  RUSH Jr. High Camp, we will be there all week and we are all super, super excited about it!  Even in 110 degree heat we know the LORD will be there with us and we are so excited to see how HE will teach us all ... we will post about how it went later. Please pray that we will speak boldly for GOD and that young lives will be changed.

Hope you are having a great summer!

Love-

MAY 2006 AWESOME GOD

This last weekend, we played in Willows Ca, at a place called Glenn County Juvenile Hall. We played in the courtyard there, which was nice because we thought that it was going to rain, so we came prepared to play inside...but we were blessed with sunshine, so we got to play outside.  There were over twenty kids in attendance along with some wonderful Peace Officers.

GOD broke down barriers that day as almost all the kids raised their hands at Pastor Deb’s invitation of asking JESUS to come into their hearts and change them.  They literally prayed out loud along with Pastor Deb for Jesus to come into their hearts and forgive them; (you could feel GOD’s spirit moving) after-wards, a 14-year-old girl came up to the pastor in tears and asked how she could be a blameless child, she wanted to be part of God's family, perfect in His sight, a true “blameless child.”   It was such a blessing to be there that day, to see the smiles on many of these kid's faces, maybe for the first time hearing about the love and joy found in Christ. We want to thank Pastors’ Deb and Steve, and Glenn County Juvenile Hall for allowing us be there...and to Kevin Looker from JCMuzk Productions for making the arrangements.  Also thanks to Kevin, Kayla, and Maddie for making us sound acceptable, and teaching us new tricks of the trade - and Pastors' Deb & Steve, thanks for lunch too it was great!

So far in the last four months, we've had an array of diverse opportunities... from playing along side various bands, ranging from rock, pop, rap, and screamo, at different venue settings, such as playing at churches, youth rallies and a Juvenile Hall, inside and outside (and feeling sometimes as if we are playing up side down, especially when we have allergies).... its been a busy, exciting, fun time...and we've learned a lot about how God's plans are sometimes not our own, but they always turn out better than ours anyways;
The funny things that make us people; Music, and what exactly it can be; Life and how short it is, make every day count; and, how to make a sound guy happy by correctly communicating during a sound check!

But all this being said, we still have a lot to learn. We are still quite ignorant about a lot of things, but its ok, because God amazes us when even during confusion, annoyance, and bad attitudes, HE's got it handled, and he never ceases to steal the show and amaze people by who HE is.

Love from Liz, Beth and Sam

May 2006

It's the middle of May!!
Hip Hip Hooray!! school is almost done...no more tests, projects, and books.
So far we've been pretty busy.
We had the last Jammin Java Night to end the school year, on May 11th....it went pretty well....we sang some oldies, ate some pineapple, and overall had a good time. Thank you to all of our teachers for putting up with us this year, you have all blessed us tremendously, and we love you.

In Gridley Ca, we had the opportunity of playing at a city wide youth rally. God's spirit was there, and despite the heat, It was really fun playing here. We played along side "My Second Chance"
which was cool because they are all awesome people, and are good musicians. We also got to hang out and jam with a couple of great people after-wards. One a kid who shames me on the guitar with his rendition of" La Bamba" and a girl named Valarie who has a really great voice and is very talented. It was great to meet you guys... So all in all, it was great, and once again a big thanks to KPL, for the sound, expert advice, and booking; and an enormous thanks to  mom and dad....what you do for your kids.  I hope when I have kids, that I'm as patient, and generous of my time and love towards them, as you are to us.

APRIL 2006

" Hi there everyone, hope all is well with all of you. It’s me Liz.  Recently, the band took a short break, because I was in San Luis Mexico for a mission’s trip with our church. I learned a lot of things there, and I'd thought I would share them with who ever is willing to listen, so here goes;

I had never been to another country before this, so it was kind of a culture shock for a while. It really hurt to see Yuma Arizona, and its beautiful houses, and all its nice things, and then suddenly hit Mexico two minutes later and see the poverty, and just the great difference.

It really made me realize how blessed we are in this country. On this mission trip, I think the most stunning thing I saw was how God's grace is really all we have in this life; God's Grace is the only thing really worth living for, because without it, I have no hope.

In Mexico this last week, over 30 people came to Christ. But this had nothing to do with any person on this mission trip. We were a group of imperfect people, who God used. God works through our weakness, and shows how strong HE is.

I also realized even more than before, how our band “Blameless Child” is so much more than just a band.  I really believe we have a mission to be used by God to shine and let God's love speak through us.  To give hope to people who want to be healed, saved, and brought to a life that is really worth something. There is way more than life here and now, there is eternity. But whether you choose to put your faith and hope in Christ, or to ignore HIM, determines, what your eternity will look like.  No matter who you are, or where on the planet you are from, God has a plan for your life, and loves you beyond what you think, say or do. God is the same no matter where you are."

February 2006

Updates:

Near the end of January we were excited to record our songs at The Good Shepherd Studio in Chico, CA with Kevin P. Looker (KPL) from JCMuzk Productions.  It was an awesome experience… KPL is very professional and has extremely up to date equipment – we got to record all of our instruments at the same time – My guitar, Beth’s bass, and Sam’s drums were placed on individual tracks while we played.  Then Beth and I individually added the vocals after the music was finished.  Not sure yet when the CD will be released from the production studio –  $1.00 per CD donated to Machado Joseph Disease research.  Check out our Link’s on MJD.  We will let you know when the CD is out!  Thanks…

The Good Shepherd Studio is a non-profit organization, which helps young musicians like us.  KPL says, “The Good Shepherd's Studio is not just a rehearsal space, or a recording studio. It is a teen outreach, focused on reaching young musicians, offering them a great place to rehearse, record, or just hang out with other musicians.”  Check out their website and support them if you can… http://www.goodshepherdstudio.com/index.php

A BIG Thank you to our Parents, Aunt Melanie, Uncle Fred, and our sister Dawn for all of their financial support love and uhmmmmmmm willingness to hear our racket…

We have a website up on Pure Volume and the Gospel Music Association – hopefully we will have our newly recorded songs up there soon… for more info check out our Links Page on this site.

We should be having some up coming gigs soon – check back to our website for updates…

Thanks,

January 2006

JOY TO THE WORLD it is 2006!

We are excited to be recording with The Good Shepherd's Studio in Chico, CA this January 2006!
We thank GOD for this opportunity and hope and pray that HE will bless our music ministry...

We had an exciting December 2005 playing at Sunset Market the day before Christmas Eve (which would be December 23, 2005!)
Because of the downpour of rain - we could not set-up in the parking lot as we had planned.  We actually set-up in the Produce aisle with one amp, an acoustic guitar with amp, bongos and two mics!  We had a lot of fun and Surprisingly no one threw any tomatoes at us!  At the end of three hours we ran out of Christmas songs to sing!  We had very positive comments from almost everyone - all except one negative comment from a customer who asked if it were legal for us to sing Christmas songs in a public place!  The owners of Sunset Market asked us to come back anytime we wanted… so we were excited about that!

Our Quad Worship Band at Neighborhood Church is in the process of recording a few songs for a Worship CD for our Youth Group.  The Quad along with two other of our awesome Focal Point Worship Bands are making this Worship CD.  Brian a High School Senior and an aspiring recording producer has kindly taken on this mongo project!!! And has done a great job!  Thanks Brian!
